Is a convertible a convertible if the top isn't down?

O.K. Here it is with the top down and the sun a shining. We went to a corvette autocross race at Solano College and we had a chance to get the top down and see what it looks like.

Even with the top down, there is plenty of space in the trunk for luggage. The next time we do a road trip, we will do it with the top down.

See all that blue sky above my head? It's nice that the weather cooperated today with sunshine a plenty. Almost like Hawaii!

O.K. This picture was a little harder to take, as I was driving down the road by myself. But hopefully you can see the smile stuck on my face as I drive. I've been dreaming about this type of driving for a long time.

There she is, tucked back in her little one car garage. The top is still down, ready to go and play in the sun some more. Good night little blue Corvette. We love you!

Another Little Blue Car

Nothing like a sunny fall day with the leaves on the trees turning colors, and driving a nice, shiny blue car!

This little blue Corvette has been on our "Bucket List" for a while. As you may know, the "Bucket List" is the list of things you want to do before you die. I'm not planning on dying too soon, but you never know what is in the future. In the mean time J'net and I are planning on enjoying this car.

j'net smiling as she is driving the Corvette across the Nevada desert at a speed faster than a Plymouth Neon. She has just slowed down from 106 mph test run. At least of a minute or two. O.K. J'net, can I drive again?

Since this blue car is a replacement for my last blue car, and my last blue car was my daily driver, the Corvette has now become my daily driver. Just to prove that it doesn't spend all of it's time in the garage, here is a shot of it enjoying a regular parking spot in front of our condo. This is the parking space that my little Honda use to occupy. The car got washed today and really enjoys the attention. It was practically purring after being washed, or was that me?

Winter Weather, Winter Food

As we can see, the California sunshine has taken a break and allowed these wonderful winter clouds to take the stage.  It rained all day today.  When it gets like this, I start thinking of warm homemade food.

O.K., so I had to go out and get a couple of items for my homemade food.  I also had to thaw out the meat for the stew that  we are going to make tonight.  Yum, Yum!  Fresh Beef Stew!

It took awhile to prepare all of the ingredients, but they're all in the crock pot now.  Three big potatoes, two big onions, four cloves of garlic, can of beef broth, pepper, stew meat, one carrot, and a few other things that slip my mind.

The hardest thing about stew in a crock pot is that it takes forever to cook.  I'm sitting in the house smelling this wonderful smell, but I go and poke at a potato, and it's still hard as a potato.  The pot is on high, so there is a remote possibility that I can sample the stew tonight before I go to bed.  Of course, if I wake up in the middle of the night, it won't be just a glass of water that I will be tasting.
Any darn!  I'm here by myself this week.  I guess I will have to eat the pot of stew myself.

Just Sitting In a Splitty

As many of you know, I love cars. And I love all types of cars. This all started when I was a child and lived on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland, CA.
Our two story apartment overlooked Telegraph Avenue which was a main road through Oakland. I didn't watch much TV back then, but I did enjoy looking out the window and watching all the cars go up and down Telegraph. Back in the 50's, the cars were very unique and you could tell very easily which ones were Fords, or Chevys, or Dodges, etc.
So ever since then, I have liked cars. I've owned many, many cars but one car I have never owned is a mid sixties VW Bus.
I was in Sacramento and visiting my Aunt when we went to lunch at the Beach Hut Deli. The owner Troy had his VW bus parked outside of the Deli and graciously let me sit in the bus, and just for a moment, pretend that it was mine.

So, you see, one of these buses remains on my list of cars to own. It may be some time before I find the right one, but it will eventually happen.
Thanks again Troy for your kindness. And take good care of your bus. If it ever needs a good home, just let me know.

Bye Bye Little Blue Honda

We found a new home for the Little Blue Honda this last week. It was a good dependable car and it will be missed. It's hard to beat the dependability of Hondas. I've been driving the CR-V all week and it has been fun. It's time for a little excitement though, so we will see what shows up to replace Little Blue Honda!

Ten Year Anniverary

These pictures are posted today to celebrate our ten year anniversary!  We have had a ton of fun together and been able to go many places together and enjoy life together.

Getting married ten years ago to Jnet was one of the best things that has happened to me.  It's really good to have a good companion and a good friend that you can hang out with all the time.

I feel like I am married to a model, with her long legs and nice blond hair.  Whenever I feel like looking at a beautiful girl, I just turn around and check out my wife.  Jnet just does it for me.

And of course,  her Dad did say that she was his " Hippie" child.  But I "like" hippies.  I may even buy a VW bus to tool around in.  Maybe even a blue, converted school bus!

For half of our ten years together, we were able to live in Kauai.  It's a beautiful island and we met great friends and had lots of fun together.  Of course, Jnet and I have fun where ever we live.  We lived in Roseville initially and then got to live in Kauai, and now we are living in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Who knows where we will get to live next.  It's a big world out there with plenty of places to experience.

Now that we are back on the mainland, we were able to take a Harley ride together to celebrate our ten years together.  It was because I owned a Harley when we met, that Jnet decided to date me after we first met.  Of course, life isn't always perfect.  Her favorite color was blue, and my Harley was purple.

So this is how we do our life together.  "Together" is the operative word.  It has been great to find someone who can be your companion and best friend 24/7.  We will continue our journey together as best friends for our next ten years.  We are looking forward to more trips across the country and around the world.  Thanks Jnet for being my friend and my wife!

Little Blue Corvette

I've been going to several car shows lately, like a VW show, a Corvette show, the Pleasant Hill Sun Valley Mall Friday Night show, and the Martinez Main Street show.  There are so many nice cars out there and I like them all.   But the best car show is on the open road!  Here I was today over in San Francisco enjoying the cool weather near Ocean Beach, and I spy this Blue Corvette in my rear-view mirror.

This is my favorite car and favorite color:  a Blue Convertible Corvette!

I had to follow it for awhile, and pretend that I was actually driving it up the road towards the Cliff House.  I was pretending that I had the heater on, since I had the top down and it was cool outside.

Unfortunately, this car was a little faster than the one I was actually driving, and it pulled away from me soon after this picture was taken.  But let it be known, that this "is" my favorite car and it is at the top of my "to own" list.  I still don't know if one would fit in my single car garage, but I have my tape measure with me to check the width of the Corvette, mirror to mirror.  At least I get to see these cars on the road and get to pretend that I am driving it for awhile!
